Stopping smoking is a sizeable challenge for any smoker, but people frequently develop beliefs or other ‘mental obstacles’ which make giving up seem impossible.

  • A feeling of resignation at knowing exactly what you’d have to do to stop smoking but being certain that you will never be capable of achieving this affects many people.

  • Continuing to smoke though worrying more and more about your health is also common. This particularly affects people who have suffered a ‘red flag’ warning such as a heart attack or a concerning shortness of breath.

  • Continuing to smoke though increasingly bothered by the social and financial implications is again extremely common. Smoking is an ever more costly habit; and joining the outdoor ‘smokers huddle’ feels less and less socially acceptable.
